Summary

ANNU Clinic offers a fantastic pioneered treatment for aging skin. At ANNU Clinic Botox is one of our most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Botox is a muscle relaxing therapy to treat fine lines and wrinkles, this treatment is so fantastic it can have the same effect as a surgical brow lift; it’s also great for eliminating lines around the eye resulting in a refreshed appearance.

What are wrinkles?

People mostly associate wrinkles with aging and its true that as we grow older the cells of our skin become much thinner and tend to lose the elasticity because we produce less collagen. Also the repair of our skin becomes much slower which is due to our skin cells dividing more slowly.

We also get wrinkles from sun damage and sun bed damage. If we spend too much time trying to get a tan without wearing protection our skin becomes much more vulnerable to ultraviolet radiation. The radiation also causes our skin collagen to breakdown much quicker than natural aging, this loss makes the skin much less elastic and much thinner therefore we get wrinkles.

Other things, which can contribute to wrinkles, are smoking, air pollution and gravity.

It is natural to get wrinkles as we all grow older, it is something which we cannot avoid, however we can get ourselves a face lift and look after our skin to keep those youthful looks for longer.

Benefits

This treatment is non-surgical so there is almost no recovery time is needed, you can get back normal very quickly after receiving treatment

Other health uses for Botox is to reduce excess perspiration ‘Hyperhidrosis’ and more recently to alleviate the symptoms of migraines.

Procedure

How it works

Botox is a purified protein derivative, which is used to abolish frown lines and wrinkles caused by aging.

Botox injections block the pathway of the nerves to the muscle. Normally a message is sent to the muscle telling it to contract or tense up. As the pathway is blocked (or significantly reduced) the muscle no long contracts and instead relaxes, so the wrinkled area smooth’s out and the wrinkle is considerably reduced.

The most popular areas to treat are:

Frown lines between the eyes

Forehead lines

Crows feet

The process

The procedure will only take a few minutes to complete; there is no anesthesia involved (or required).

Botox will be injected into several specific muscles, depending on the area you wish to have treated, using a tiny needle.

Generally people feel minimal discomfort during the treatment

You will be asked not to lie down for a few hours after the treatment; this is to keep everything in place. You will be able to resume normal daily activities immediately. The full effect of the treatment varies between individuals and is established over 2-14 days.

Typically the treatment will last three to four months, but it varies between individuals. However the duration of effect increases with each repeated treatments and some individual require only one to two maintenance treatments per year.

Side effects

There is a small possibility of bruising or haematoma formation at the site of injection.

Less frequently reported side effects include slight eyelid drooping, which generally resolves over seven to ten days.
